BIRTHDAY SPECIAL!!!!

My birthday is this week (woot, woot) and to celebrate I'm offering FREE SHIPPING on everything in My Etsy Store. But hurry because this special is only good until May1st.

I have been fairly distracted by some personal things lately, but I have made some time for creativity. I have been working on a number of earrings. I have a bunch of beaded hoops, triangles, and new lampwork earrings. I'm supper happy with all of them. Here are a couple of them.

This first set is a really fun pink disk pair. I absolutely love them and I'm thinking of making a pair for myself.

These earrings were made from left over beads from a custom order. I recently made a brown and pink necklace for a co-worker and I liked the color combo so much, I made these earrings.

They are made using these really fun pink glass disks (I did not make these) and brown Swarovski crystals. They are then finished off with handmade sterling silver earwires.

They are so fun and flirty, perfect for spring and summer.

You can check out this pair HERE.

The second pair, I'm pretty proud of.

These fun blue lampwork beads were made in my small studio. They are simple but really fun and bright. The lampwork beads are accented by super sparkly Swarovski Crystals.

This is my first attempt at hammered wire. If you look closely the ends of the sterling silver are hammered flat. I have a long way to go before I have perfected this method, but overall I'm happy with how these turned out.

These earrings are fun a little bit different then your average dangle earring.

You can check these little guys out HERE.

Happy Friday

I haven't had a chance to get any new pictures taken this week, so everyone will have to wait to see a few of my new things.

But it is Friday, and well everyone should celebrate! Woot Woot the weekend is near.

And to ring in the weekend, I thought I would post a funny picture of Toonces stuck in "her" bag.

This WAS one of my grocery bags, but she has claimed it as her own.

And in doing this, she has now completely destroyed the bag.

But it makes her happy. It's like her security blanket; she sleeps on it, puts toys in it, and hides from Nacho in it.

So we let her keep it.

An Update

I first want to thank everyone that commented on my last post. I think I'm going to go with custom orders so the cuff fits the person snugly. I think this is my best option. So now I just need to get it on etsy.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I want to thank all of me readers for putting up with my lack of updates. I have been grossly negligent of my blog and etsy as of late. So I decided to let everyone know why.
I was informed at the beginning of February that the research lab I work in will be closing for a few years, and will open again (someday). That left me without a job in very bad economy. So for the last few months, I have put everything on the back burner and concentrated on finding a new research position (easier said then done).
I have not been posting as much, I have not been making new things, I have not been keep up with specific groups I am a part of, and I've missed several deadlines for art shows. And the biggest one of all, I have stopped all frivolous spending, so that means; no clothes, no toys, no extras, and most of all (and the most difficult to give up) NO BEADS OR GLASS.
But there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I have now had two interviews for a research position in the pediatrics equivalent of what I do know.
I was told I was the rookie of all the applicants, I had much less experience then everyone else. But I had a lot of pluses like; I already work pharacogenomics, I already know how to use a chip based system, I do all my own extractions, and I know a few people that have worked with that lab.
So I'm just waiting to hear what their decision is. I'm really hoping for good news at this point. I will make sure to update everyone, no matter if it's good news or bad news.
The ferrets are hoping for good news too. As you can see they have been hamming it up to try to keep my spirits up for the last few months.
I just wanted to let everyone know why I had been missing in action as of late. And thank you all for continuing to stop by.
An Update on the Corsage Cuff
So I wore the Midnight in the Garden cuff for the whole day yesterday. I wore it to work, where I did a little lab work, a lot of computer work, and a few other things while wearing this cuff.
First off I want to say, I absolutely love the way it looks. It looks even better on. The colors really pop on the black. The lampwork flower turned out really well (I think this is my best one to date, I'm so happy with it, and I can't wait to make a few more). It was also very easy to wear. I didn't even know it was there.
But I was a little disappointed with how little it stayed in place. The corsage part was a little top heavy so it kept falling towards the underside of my arm. I'm sure if I would have made the cuff a little bit smaller and it fit my arm a little bit tighter, then I could have fixed this problem.
I guess I'm going to have to go back to the drawing board to figure out how to fix this little problem. It's just too pretty to let the flower be positioned inward.
I'm also considering instead of placing the corsage in the middle, maybe I'll place it closer to the clasp, but I'm still worried it will be top heavy. Hmmmmm, this one is going to take a while.
So now I'm not sure how long it is going to take to get one of these in my store. Maybe I can just give a wrist size or I can offer it as a made to order cuff and warn a potential buyer about how it's top heavy and needs to fit snugly, so they need to take accurate wrist measurements. Or I can just play with it until I find a way to make it less top heavy. I'll figure it out, I hope.
Newest Cuff
Here is my newest cuff. It's a corsage cuff. I really like these. I made one for myself a while back, and I wear it all the time.
This one is a little bit more "fancy" then the one I made for myself.
I used silver lined seed beads for the Russian leaves and both matte and shiny size 6 seed beads for the band.
Then I made a lampwork flower bead for the focal. I'm still working on perfecting making flowers like this. I'm not very good at it, but I do notice I'm getting better over time.
I'm gonna go with Midnight in the Garden for the name. I really like this, and I can't wait to wear it tomorrow at work as a trial run. Then I'll post and update on how it holds up to everyday wear.
