What's New!

So I thought I would share a few pictures with you. This is what has been consuming my life the last few weeks. MY NEW LAB!!

So here are a few pictures of the new lab I'm helping to start up. It's a very time consuming process, but it's such a great opportunity for a young researcher assistant like me. And introducing myself as the lab manager to reps doesn't hurt either. Hehehehe!

This is what a lab looks like when there is nothing in it. As you can see we don't even have chairs yet. (I know it looks nothing like the labs on CSI, well, no lab looks like that, even fancy new ones.)

I have a room full of empty shelves, drawers, and cabinets that are waiting to be filled with fun new research equipment. And that is all I've been doing for the last two weeks.

Luckily I have finally started to get in supplies, so the shelves aren't as bare any more. I have a handful of items (beakers, flasks, tubes). So the shelves have started to fill up. There are so many things you use everyday that you don't even think about.

I don't even have a computer yet. I've been working on my personal computer for a few weeks now. Some day the computer will come. Someday all my equipment will be here and we will be able to start some science soon, yay!

I'm very happy here all the people seem like really nice people to work with. Change is good, and I'm very glad that this change was forced on me (even if it didn't seem like it was a blessing in February).

I'm hoping to have the majority of set up done by next week, so maybe I won't be so exhausted when I get home every night. I've been putting in a lot of hours right now, but it's totally worth it. Then I'll have time to finish the cuff I'm in the middle of right now and maybe drag out the photo tent and take some pictures of a few new things I've been working on. Next week I promise to get back to beady goodness.

And of course the ever happy Captin Epi who watches over the rotor keys for the centrifuges.

I also should have new puppy pictures by tomorrow, I'm going for a visit tonight.

I'm Still Here

I'm still here really. I've just been unbelievably busy the last few weeks. Life has been crazy. I have accepted a new position as a lab manager at the UW Madison School of Veterinary Science. I'm heading up a brand spanking new oncology research lab. I'm really loving this job and the UW campus, but I've been so busy. I just want to apologize for my lack of posting lately. I promise to be up and running soon. And I want to thank all of you that continue to stop by, comment, and/or drop E-cards. Thank you very much.

**PUPPY UPDATE**
Quick puppy update, the puppies are now 6 weeks old and they go in for their first shots today. Then they are ready to be adopted by loving families. That means we might have a puppy by next weekend. J and I will have to discuss if it is the right time to add another addition to the family (Toonces has been acting up again). Hopefully I'll have new puppy pictures soon.

Show and Some More Puppy Pics!

Ok, lets get the more boring stuff out of the way first.

I had a show this past Sunday. It was a beautiful day out with the sun shinning. I got to see a lot of old friends and family and I got to hang out with my mom, sister, my friend, J, and her adorable daughter. And that was nice.

My new displays (that my wonderful boy and his dad made for me) looked great and worked out fantastically. It was so nice to have everything set up before the show. It really lowered the stress level of setting everything up when I got there. So I was so happy with how they worked.

But now it's on to the more important things. NEW PUPPY PICTURES. So the puppies are now 28 days old and they are up and running around. They are super cute, well see for yourself.

They are so cute!!!! They each have their own personalities. One is a little barker, one is a chewer, one is really laid back, and so on and so on.

They play in their little "playpen" outside every day. They run around and chase each other, they wrestle with each other. They play with the paper. The one female loves to grab the paper by the corner and then run around with it. Too cute.

Here is a picture of the biggest one. He's a big boy already. J says he's the biggest little thing he's ever seen. I just say he's adorable. I can't wait to bring one of these little guys home. But that's still a few weeks away.

Rising Sun - New Horizons

About a year ago I made a crazy purchase, I bought a bunch of large marble disk beads. They were beautiful, but what to do with them? Then the them to the Beadweaving Emporium Market challenge theme was announced. The theme was "New Horizons" with a mini theme to incorporate green. This was a wonderful chance for me to use these beautiful green beads.

I used wonderful copper lined green seed beads and then bright silver lined silver and gold seed beads to create this wonderful necklace. I beaded around the green marble disk to create a lovely pendent. I then finished it with fringe and a beaded rope.

I see a rising sun every time I look at this necklace. I think it has a very Inca or Mayan feel to it. The silver lined beads really make it glow like the sun. This necklace not only reminds me of the rising sun, but also because it was my first attempt at beading around a bead with netting.

This necklace is about 18 inches in length and the pendent measures 3 by 5 1/4 inches.

This is for the Beadweaving Emporium (BEM) New Horizon's Challenge. You can check out all of the entries and vote for your favorite at the Market's Blog!

I am really proud of myself with this piece. This is a little out of the box for me, but I had so much fun making it. I really love the way it looks and it looks even better on. I wore it for a little bit the other day and was very happy with it. If you'd like to see more pictures stop by my 1000 Markets store for a closer look. And while you're at 1000 markets don't forget to search "BEMC" for all the wonderful entries.

On a Roll

My 80s tastic cuff seams to be on a roll right now. It's featured in a treasury. It's in the center (I forgot to put a circle around it). That's awesome. Thank you!

Puppy Update! - the puppies now have their eyes open and are starting to walk. I'll have some new pictures as soon as possible.
