When I decided that I would step away from jewelry for awhile and started making more non-wearable art, I also told myself that I would push myself out of my comfort zone and make things that didn't necessarily conform to the "norms" of society. I don't plan on making things that are way out there, but I wanted to make sure I wasn't playing it safe. I didn't want to make something just because I thought others would like it, I wanted to make it because I liked it.
And with that, I was off. Making art that appealed to me again. Because, let's face it, I was getting bored with the same old, same old. I don't worry about if the colors I pick are in right now or if an image will be loved by all. I just create. It's wonderful. And I'm hoping my passion will translate to my customers, new and existing.
Right now I'm working on a beaded tapestry that is a little out there. I've gone with a non-traditional color scheme; purple, green, and red. But I'm loving it. I know J is a little on the fence. He likes the purple and green, but when I showed him the small amounts of red I was going to add, he didn't seem so thrilled. That's okay, I'm in love.
Here's a little look at what I'm up to....
I'm over half finished with the beadwork. I would like to get it done by next week, but we'll see. I have a busy weekend ahead again. I just can't wait to see what it looks like finished. Who knows, maybe I'll hate it and be sad because I wasted my time, only time will tell. But as of right now, I like it. I like it a lot.
Have any of you created something that was a little out of the norm? Something that might be hit or miss? What did you think once you were finished?
I hope everyone has a fantastic Wednesday, and as always, never stop being creative.
