Well, looky here, it's Friday again. The second half of this week went pretty fast, I can't say the same for the first half. I have now completed a full week at my new position and I finished teaching my first class at Madison College. That's pretty exciting. I'm very much enjoying my new position. My new PI is just like the last, she just lets me do my thing. I feel like I'm so much more productive when that happens. I've gotten a lot done, but there is a lot left to do. But that's okay, I like being busy again, it makes the day go by so much quicker.

My class at Madison College also went fairly well. I'm not sure. I had one no show and one student that only showed up for the first day, but all the rest of my students seemed fairly happy with everything. Well I'm sure they were as happy as they could be given the limitations of the classroom. But hopefully it went well. My next class is in two weeks at night downtown, so hopefully it will be better. That means I have to go get my Faculty ID, I've been putting it off. So I'll have to make some time.

I've also been working on custom order. I had to place a bead order, so I'm getting as much done as I can before the beads come in and then I'm going to be working like a mad woman. I'll only have a month and a half to get this one done. I sure hope I can pull this one off. Fingers crossed.

Well, I haven't done one of these in a long time. It's been a crazy week. I ended my position in my old lab and I started my position in my new lab. It's been a transition, but luckily my new PI kinda let's me do my thing because I've done this a few times before. I'm glad she trusts me enough to let me go on my own. It's made the transition a lot easier. And hopefully I'll be able to get back into working on a project as soon as the lab is all set up.

Hmm, what else? The weather has cooled down quite a lot here. 80°F on Monday and 59°F today. And it's October, so we all know what that means, HALLOWEEN. I've had my Halloween decorations up for a while now, but with the cooler weather, it seems to much more real. I still have a few more things to do (because I love Halloween and I love to decorate for it), but the majority of things are done. Now to just get that costume finished. Another thing to add to the list of what needs to get done.

Is it really Friday already? This week really went by in a flash. Where does the time go? Though the week went fast, I don't have much to share. I upgraded to Windows 10. I'm liking it, but now my Office won't open, so that's not really cool.

I did get the final word on whether my boss was staying in WI or going to Austin. He's going to Austin, so that means it's time for me to start looking for a new job or somehow up my Etsy sales. I have a feeling that getting a new job is the way I will go. It was a difficult day when I found out, but I'll be fine. I always am. That's just how academia works. You never know when funding will run out or when someone will leave for a better opportunity. It's just how it works. So now I have a couple months to find something new or decide what else I can do. Like I said, I'll be fine and get through this.

Not much else happened this week. I'm putting the finishing touches on my custom order and should have that finished by this afternoon. I'll be happy to get that finished.

Well another week has passed and it's Friday again. It was a pretty busy week here and it's going to be a busy weekend. We have to stain the deck on Saturday. I know that sounds like so much fun. Is it really Friday already? Where did the time go. This week seemed to just fly by. Really quickly. It just seems like we've been going nonstop since last Thursday. Cookout with friends. Trivia. Hello Friday. Here is south central WI, this Friday is starting out as a wet and rainy day, but I believe it's not supposed to last. Which will be nice. Granted I normally work a little bit better when it's rainy out (I really do love rainy days), but I do need to finish up working on my bead storage system and rain will only slow me down. I also have to go to the grocery store today, and I don't want to get rained on while doing that.

That's enough about the weather here. This past week has been pretty uneventful. I've finished the beading on my mixed media project and one of my friends volunteered to model my jewelry for a little photo shoot. That's about it. That's about it. I've been really super busy in the lab. Not really anything that exciting happening here. It was a laid back week, but sometimes those are pretty nice.

Oh I did give J his first photography lesson this week. It didn't last very long, but he seemed interested. The funny thing is he was frustrated with the lens I gave him. He just kept telling me how much it sucked. I gave him the kit lens that came with the Rebel XT ten years ago. I've been telling him for 10 years how bad that lens was, now he knows. AND he's already started looking for a new lenses. Yes, my plan worked! Now he knows why I never use that damn kit lens, it's terrible. Side note - I do have numerous lenses, but up until now he complained every time I bought a new one because he didn't understand why the kit lens wasn't good enough. Silly boy.

Oh my, it's Friday again. This weekend is a busy one. This weekend is graduation. J is graduating. Well, technically he graduated in December, but this weekend is the ceremony. We have a lot of things planned for this weekend. Dinner, ceremonies, etc, etc. And on top of all of this, it's also J's birthday. So today I'm making him some boozy cupcakes to celebrate. Yum! Hello Friday, how have you been? I wish I could be enjoying you (translation: getting work done on my custom order that is due by the end of the month), but I'm stuck here in the lab. Yup, as I write this, I'm sitting in the lab waiting for an assay. So much fun. Now I know what you are going to say. "You shouldn't be on the internet while you're working." Before you get your panties in a bunch and try to report me; today is my day off, I'm not even supposed to be here (aka, I'm not getting paid for this. Well I guess I am because I'm salaried, but I still only get paid a 50% salary and I've already worked 20hrs, so again, I'm not getting paid for this.) I digress. All I'm trying to say is I wish I was in the studio working on things that need to get done instead of sitting in the lab (also, I've been here since 6 am, so I maybe a little crabby). Good news, I shouldn't be here too late, so I should get home early enough to get some beadwork done. Yay!  (I love my job, but sometimes it's frustrating when you are working on things your student should be doing but is apparently too busy to do).

Okay, I'll stop. I sound like a whiny baby today. I'm just tired and cranky, I'll get over it.

Wow, it's Friday already. This week has been crazy! It seems like I've been busy every single day, oh yeah that's right, I have.

It was my birthday on Wednesday (Don't forget to use coupon code BIRTHDAY to get 20% off anything in my Etsy Shop). It was also my last class and the class decided to throw me a surprise birthday party (I knew about it, but it still very nice). We had cake and punch. We laughed and enjoyed ourselves. It was lots of fun. I really am going to miss all of them. I'm probably going to forget that class is over and just show up next week. I'm sad it's over, but I'm so proud of them. They accomplished so much in such a short period of time. They will rock it.

Speaking of birthdays, J got me a new camera. A Canon EOS 70D. I'm in love. I've only had it 48 hours and I can't put it down. It's quite the upgrade from my 10 year old Rebel XT. So expect a ton of photos, not just on here, but on my Instagram and Facebook pages. Right now they are only of the animals, but I promise to take some photos of beads. ;-)

Well it's Friday once again. What a week it's been. I have been busier then ever in the lab. This always happens this time of year. Always trying to get our undergrads finished up before they leave for the summer. And I'm not even done, I need to come in on Saturday because my undergrad works the spring football game. Not my idea of fun, but oh well. It's part of the job.

I'm also gearing up for my last class. My students are doing a great job and I'm so proud of them (proud mama moment). I can't believe this month went by so quickly. I'll be happy to see all they have accomplished when we get back together in June.

We're also getting ready for J's graduation. He finished up classes in December, but he walks the stage in May. Graduation is a full weekend thing. There are multiple dinners and parties and then the ceremony at Camp Randell (the UW Madison football stadium). And of course the all important graduation party. We have some remodeling things we want to finish up before then, so I guess we better get a move on it.

Happy Friday Everyone! It's been quite a week. I have been so very busy in the lab. I only have 4 weeks left to get my under-grad's project finished. Nerve wracking. She'll do it, I know she will, she's a smart cookie.

I also have been busy with my class. I now have one open lab and three classes under my belt. They are progressing well and we are much quicker to recognize and fix problems. So I'm happy about that. There are only two more classes to go and I will be sending my students out into the world. I'm proud of them, they'll do fine. I guess I'll see, since I'll check in on them in June.

I've also been busy with my custom orders. I'm working on another leather gauntlet with pyramid studs and beadwork. I'm really excited to see this one done, but it's a lot more complicated than the last few, so it's gonna take a while to finish.

Other than that, same old, same old. I'm still working on getting the new studio in order. I'm getting all my little plants ready to be transplanted to the garden soon. Yay! That's about it this week.

Hello Friday, how have you been? So this week was pretty laid back and, I dare say it, relaxing.

The two custom cuffs I've been working on were dropped off with there new owner and he loved them. He posted a photo of them on Facebook as soon as I gave them to him. I'm so happy and relieved that he liked them. Now on to the next project.

I finished my beaded tin. Well I finished the beaded parts, now I just need to decide what I'm gong to do with the bottom half. I think I'll paint it, but I'm not sure. I hope to have that finished up by the end of next week.  Fingers crossed.

I got my hairs did. I figured if I'm going to teach my first class, I might as well get my mane trimmed up. It's nothing fancy. Just a trim, an addition of a few more layers, and some wispy bangs. I'm still growing it out, so I don't want to get to crazy.

And speaking of class, I think I am finally ready. I'm completely prepped for the first two classes and I'm almost done with the third. I can do this. I have a confession to make, I'm terrified. I don't know why, but I am. Completely terrified. I'm hoping that goes away the second I step into the class room next week. I hope.

Well here we are again, it's Friday. And for most of us, this means, it's the weekend bitches! This past week has been a busy one. I've finished all my teacher training, so I'm ready to teach my class. I'm almost done with my first three lesson plans, which is a huge relief. I even have one mock class under my belt. I'm on a roll with this.  

I finished up both of my beaded cuffs that are due next Tuesday, ahead of schedule. That's a great feeling. Normally I'm working right down to the wire.  So to have this finish, it's great.

It's Friday!  It really hasn't been that exciting of a week here.  Nothing especially exciting happened, that I'm aware of.  I'm almost done with my two custom cuffs.  I should done with those this weekend, so that's exciting (that means photos next week).

I'm prepping for my class next week.  I've met with all sorts of people at the library and I've had my first training session.  I even have a mock class this weekend.  I have really great friends.  I can't believe how many people were interested in helping me out.  Like I said, I have great friends.

My studio is slowly, but surely becoming whole.  I've got more shelves up and I've started designing the shelving unit for me beads.  I'm excited.  J has plans on working on his motorcycle this weekend, but I'm hoping he has a little bit of time to help me start that.

Whoa, it's Friday again.  How did that happen?  It's been a busy week to say the least, but then, when isn't it a busy week.  I'm back on my crazy schedule in the lab, so I just don't feel like I'm ever caught up.  And Daylight savings time didn't help at all.  I think I've fallen asleep every night around 9:00/10:00.  Just passed out on the couch, every single night this week.  I have to get back on a schedule.

I'm almost done with my latest custom piece.  Sewing on all the pyramid beads is taking forever, but I'm really liking how it looks.  I can't wait to finish it up.

It's garden time!!!!  I plan on starting the first round of seeds this weekend.  It's been so nice here in southern WI that I should be able to do it outside.  Yay, garden time!

I got a teaching gig at the Public Library.  It's part of Etsy's entrepreneurship program and I'm pretty excited about it.  I'm also pretty damn scared because I've never taught a classroom class.  I've only ever taught hands on time things.  Don't get me wrong, half of my job is teaching, but it's in a lab setting, not in a classroom.  But I'm sure I'll do fine.  I sure hope so.

Woo Hoo, it's Friday again.  Unfortunately, I have to be in the lab this morning, but I guess it could be worse, I could be in here all day.  This week was pretty good, busy, but good (hence the lack of blog posts this week).  I've been working on updating the Made in Wisconsin team blog.  I'm hoping to have it a little more finished by next week, but I'm pretty happy with how it's going so far.  I had an interview for a teaching/volunteer opportunity this week.  I'll let you know more about how I did next week.  I've been working on a few custom orders and I'm trying to finish up my beaded tin.  The studio is coming along nicely and I should be fully moved in by the end of the month, if not sooner.  The weather is starting to warm up here in Wisconsin.  It's supposed to be 33º today and in the 50s by next week.  And after the -6º yesterday morning, 33º sounds amazing and 50º sounds even better.  I'll take it.

Well, I'm not going to lie, this week sucked.  I have been sick all week with a cold from hell.  It started out as a small inconvenience, but by Wednesday, it was a full blow problem.  I can't breath, I can't sleep, I don't want food, I'm tired, and I have a terrible sinus headache.  So much fun.  So that means that I really didn't accomplish anything this week.  I did finish up the bead embroidery on my latest project, but I haven't started on the side because I just didn't feel like it.  I've sat on the couch covered in animals (they want to show me how much they love me???) and drug myself into the lab when needed.  I know, I should stay home when I'm sick, but it doesn't work that way when you have students.  And speaking of the lab, check out this article if you're interested in the work I do.

Here we are again, another Friday. And I do believe that it's supposed to be a heat wave today and tomorrow.  22ºF today and a staggering 34ºF on Saturday.  But I guess anything is better then the -10ºF of yesterday.  But it will be short lived, it's only predicted to be 9º by Sunday.  Oh WI weather.

We don't really have any plans for the weekend.  I'm gonna work on some custom orders and probably work on the new studio a bit.  Slowly buy surely I'm moving in.  The in-laws might stop by, they might not.  Kind of a laid back weekend.

Friday Freebie

It's Friday!  Party Time!  Well not really.  I have to get up and go into the lab tomorrow morning at 7:00, so there won't be too much partying for me.  But we are planning on going out for a nice dinner.  Sushi probably.  Yum.  That's a party enough for me.

This past week was pretty uneventful.  I've started my long experiment in the lab, so I've been there a lot lately.  Luckily we decided to nix the 16 hour time point, so I didn't need to be there at midnight yesterday, or I guess that would have been today.  I finished adding all the studs to my latest custom order, so now I just need to put the finishing touches on that and it will be off to it's new home.  I've got a little bit of time to work on my bead embroider project and I've started a new triangle necklace for a new client.  That's about it.
