Happy New Year

Wow, it's the new year already?  Where did last year go?  It seems like it just flew by.  Last year was a good year.  It had it's ups and downs like any year, but overall I think it was a good year.  I did have to go down to part time at work (due to lack of funds, the joys of working academics).  This seems like it would be a bad thing and I am a little scared to see how this goes, but it has a silver lining.  It means I have more time to focus on Three Fates Design.  Which is a good thing.  I've always wished I had more time to work on my business, but working 50-55 hours a week doesn't leave a lot of time for extras.  Now I have some time to devote specifically to Three Fates Design.  Yay!

What do I plan on doing with this new found freedom?

  • I plan on keeping up with the blog and making sure I blog a minimum of three times a week.
  • I plan on applying to only high end shows.  I am only going to apply to about four this year, to get a feel for the process, but then hopefully next year I can double that.
  • I plan on submitting my work to at least three galleries.  If I can get my work in just one of them, I'll be happy.
  • I plan on starting my first extra large mixed media piece.  This bad boy is going to take me a long time to finish, but it will be worth it.
  • I plan on being more active with my etsy street team.
  • I plan on learning more about SEO and how it can help me.
  • I plan on resuming my online photography and photoshop classes.
  • I plan on getting a domain name and working on m own website.

This is my list for now.  I might add to it or subtract, I'll just see how things go.  But I think all of these things are good goals to help grow this little business of mine.

The great news is, I've already started working on this list and it's only the second day of the new year.  I have already purchased a domain name and started on a website.  It's not much but it's a start.  Head on over to ThreeFatesDesign.com and tell me what you think.  I'm open to suggestions of what you like to see in a website.

So what are everyone else's plans for the new year?  Do you make resolutions or do you think they are silly?  Are you planning on doing more or less with your crafty business?  I'd love to hear what everyone else is up to.

I'm also having a sale to celebrate this new year.  Use coupon code NEWYEAR14 to get 14% off your entire order in my etsy store.  This includes patterns and clearance items.  Help me make this year one of the best.
